The Ben Ham Galleries are pleased to announce the release of a new fine art photograph by Ben Ham, Morning in the Lowcountry!
“2020 was some year. I think all of us will be glad to see it in our wake. However, we should take away something positive…realizing the really important things, like family and friends, good health and appreciating beauty that surrounds us. I am incredibly fortunate to call the Lowcountry home. It abounds with unique beauty.” Morning in the Lowcountry exemplifies this Lowcountry beauty to a T.
As he often does, Ben was exploring on a beautiful, calm morning with a clear blue sky and puffy white cumulous clouds floating along. He saw the leading line of the edge of the marsh and set up his wooden camera on that piece solid ground. That piece of marsh, in the lower corner, becomes the anchor leading your eye along the meandering, quiet creek off the May River, transporting you into the scene. The image captures tremendous depth and demonstrates Ben’s impressive sense of composition.
In addition to the strong composition and impressive depth of Morning in the Lowcountry, the exposure and contrast is striking. The dark waters are lightened with the reflection of the white puffy clouds. Clear blue sky reads dark, and the same tone as the marsh water. Feelings of tranquility and solitude may come over the viewer and one cannot help but feeling Ben’s appreciation for nature.
A self-taught photographer, Ben Ham has had a lifelong fascination with being outdoors. He feels incredibly fortunate to be able to pursue his fine art that shares this love of nature with so many collectors and viewers. He is well-known for his Lowcountry collection full of dramatic Spanish-moss draped trees, rivers, marshes, oyster beds, and beaches. Those Lowcountry works hang in Australia, across the US, Canada, a few pieces in South America, quite a few pieces in the UK, some in Germany, France, one in Dubai and South Africa. The Lowcountry collection is very well represented in places like CT, Manhattan, Chicago, CA just to mention a few, too.
But of course, Ben’s work is not limited to the Lowcountry. A travel-lover, Ben has been fortunate enough to travel out West, the Pacific, the Southwest, the Rocky Mountains, and even Italy. These collections have taken years to shoot and aren’t just vacations to great places, as one might think.
Morning in the Lowcountry is available in three sizes, 37 x 45” with an edition of 250, 48 x 59” with an edition of 125, and 58 x 79” with an edition of 20. Several works have already been sold since the release last week. For purchase inquires, please contact our Charleston or Bluffton gallery today.
